Hysteroscopy is a type of endoscopic surgery in which a mini camera is inserted in to the uterine cavity through the uterine cervix (mouth of the uterus). The procedure is usually done in infertile ladies to diagnose the intra uterine causes of infertility. (intra uterine= inside the cavity of the uterus or within the uterus)
Just like laparoscopy, hysteroscopic surgery also has the ability to treat intra uterine lesions like polyps, fibroids and intra uterine adhesions.
Some ladies may have birth defects inside the uterus and there may be an intra uterine septum (like a wall or partition inside the uterus). These conditions can be diagnosed and treated with hysteroscopic surgery.
Sometimes certain diseases like tuberculosis or cancer may affect a certain part of the uterine cavity. Hysteroscopic guided biopsy can be done for precise diagnosis of the lesion.
Most patients of hysteroscopic surgery are opertated and discharged within a few hours of the procedure. Hysteroscopy is relatively pain free and comfortable for the patient.
Our team at Heartbeats IVF is well experienced in hysteroscopic surgery.
